Today, we are presenting you the OPPOSITES.
Maxim Mikhailov (Zenit Kazan) – We will just mention one important thing about his achievements in the last season – Mikhailov has won three trophies – CEV Champions League, Russian national championship and national cup. At the Final Four in Rome, he was selected for the MVP of the tournament. Is it enought to be on the list? We bet it is. He averaged 15,87 points per game (41 matches), counting all competitions. He only misses the Club World Championship gold medal, as Sada Cruzeiro prevented Zenit winning the trophy in the final.
Dawid Konarski (Zaksa) – This is the guy who pushed Zaksa Kedzierzyn Kozle to another championship trophy. As an opposite, he had a difficult task to play against Polish powerhouses such as PGE Skra Belchatow, Asseco Resovia and Jastrezbski Wegiel. Without the World Champion with Poland in 2014, it could not be possible. Zaksa won the national champions and we have to mention his performance in the first game in Lodz – he was simply unstoppable, scoring 27 points in 3-0 win over PGE Skra Belchatow.
Wallace de Souza (Funvic/Taubate) – When Wallace de Souza signed a contract with Funvic/Taubate at the beginning of the last season, the fans of this team had a hope that Funvic can dethrone Sada Cruzeiro. Thanks to this Brazilian opposite, they were very close to make it. However, in the final of the Brazilian championship, even though Wallace was the top scorer of the team with 18 points, they had to surrender against the mighty rival. Wallace had a huge contribution in Funvic’s results in the last season, proving once again that he is one of the best opposites in the world nowadays.
Aleksandar Atansijevic (Perugia) – The Serbian bomber has entered this poll as officially the best opposite of the CEV Champions League. He was the best player of Perugia during the season, leading the team to the final of this elite European tournament. We have to mention that he missed the start of the season due to an injury.
Tsvetan Sokolov (Lube Civitanova) – This man has pushed Lube win a Scudetto in the last season. His performances were on a high level during the whole season. Trentino simply couldn’t find any solution for him in the Serie A1 playoff finals. He has impressive STATS – 17,7 points per game (51 matches), counting all competitions. That means, 903 points in total! He is one of the best scorers in the world for the season 2016/2017. Enough for us to put him on the list.
