In a duel of the 2 unbeaten teams in the final of the 3rd Asian Women’s U23 Championship, China captured their 2nd crown. After their success in an inaugural edition of the tournament in 2015, China did not take part in the second edition in 2017. Japan did the same this year as they skipped the tournament after clinching it 2 years ago.
Shandong opposite hitter Sun Jie top-scored for the gold medalists with 17 points. Son Hyang Mi highlighted for the tournament’s debutants North Korea with 16 points.
China’s outside hitter Wu Han, a player of Jiangsu, was named MVP.
Vietnam beat Thailand in 4 sets to win the bronze medal.
