The results of the draw for the 21st Asian Senior Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Championships were confirmed after the draw via a Zoom meeting organized by the AVC.
The 21st Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship will be held in the Philippines from August 29 to September 4, 2021, and 8 teams will compete for the trophy. According to the results of the draw, the hosts Philippines are in Pool A with Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan. Pool B includes Thailand, Korea, Iran and Australia. Japan and China withdrew from the tournament due to serious concerns over the global COVID-19 pandemic, while strict restrictions on the travel of incoming passengers to the Philippines led to Nepal and India being unable to participate in the championship.
The senior competition for men will be held in Japan between September 12 and 19, 2021. Hosts Japan are in Pool A with India, Qatar and Bahrain, while the reigning champions Iran with Pakistan, Thailand and Hong Kong in Pool B. Pool C consists from Australia, silver medals in the previous edition, China, Sri Lanka and Kuwait. Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia are in Pool D.
