Burevestnik Almaty reached their first win at the 2021 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
The home crowd left today’s Pool A’s encounter at the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship unsatisfied as their team, Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC, got surprisingly swept by Kazakh Burevestnik Almaty: 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-22). It was a setback for the Thai titleholders which came after two triumphs. An experienced outside hitter Vitaliy Vorivodin chipped in with 15 points for Burevestnik.
In Pool B, Al-Arabi Sports Club kept a clean sheet after two matches played. The Qatari side put in as little effort as necessary to down Philippine Rebisco Philippines: 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19). Al-Arabi were so dominant today that their head coach, the Argentine Juan Manuel Cichello, could afford to shuffle his lineup already starting from the second set. Veteran opposite hitter from Brazil, Felipe Banderó, top-scored the winning side with 21 points.
