Zhejiang
In penultimate Round 9 of Regular Season, Zhejiang stormed past Shanghai 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-15) to secure top spot in Pool 2. Li Jing stood out in winning team with 23 points. Canadian Sarah Pavan had 12 in Shanghai, who also qualified to Top 8 as fourth-placed in Pool 2.
Reigning champions Tianjin, who secured pole position in Pool 1 earlier, reached 8-1 with straight-set win over Fujian. Serbian Brankica Mihajlović and Cuban Nancy Carrillo had 16 points each in Tianjin. Zhen Yixin had 10 in Fujian.
In the absence of Australian Rachel Rourke, U.S. import Sonja Newcombe led Sichuan’s attack against Henan with 22 points to secure Top 8 berth to her team. Her compatriot Megan Easy scored 26 on the other side but Henan remained at the bottom of Pool 1.
Despite amazing performabce of Cuban Gyselle Silva of 30 points, Yunnan are stil winless at the tournament. They lost to Shandong 3-2.
In the last round, two teams will face each other in direct duel for the last remained spot in Top 8 – Ba’yi and Fujian.
