Sichuan-vs-Henan
Beijing struggled to beat the team which they swept only 20 days ago, Fujian, after making a comeback from 1-2 in sets, partially 25-16, 26-28, 20-25, 25-22, 15-7) in Pool B. The reason why this occurred was that both imports, the Canadian John Gordon Perrin and the Frenchman Kévin Tillie, did not play for Beijing today. In their absence, Yin Jie was the best scorer for the team from the Chinese capital with 20 points. Wang Chen contributed with 17 points of which 6 were kill blocks.
Sichuan earned No.4 in Pool B, which is the last place that secures a berth in Stage 2, by defeating Henan in a direct duel – 3-1 (26-24, 25-23, 27-29, 25-23). The Cuban Leonardo Leyva delivered 28 points for Sichuan.
Although there is one more round to be played, the first four teams from each pool according to the current rankings already punched their tickets for Stage 2.
