The third seed SESC RJ recovered from a defeat in the opening game of the Superliga Cimed 2018-2019 playoff quarterfinals against No.6 SESI Vôlei Bauru to surpass their rivals in Game 2: 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-19). The Rio de Janeiro powerhouse was in jeopardy to miss the championship final for the first time since the brand SESC joined the club, which was in the 2004/2005 season. Jucyele Barreto helped the team not to succumb to the pressure of early elimination in front of the packed stands at home in Tijuca Tenis Clube hall with 14 points and seven kill blocks.

Playing in front of own fans, the fifth seed Osasco Voleibol Clube/Audax got embarrassed in the opening set against No.4 Hinode Barueri (5-25!) but woke up in the continuation of the match and tied the series at 1-1. American Destinee Hooker scored 25 points for the winning side and was voted MVP of the Match but handed the trophy to her veteran teammate Paula Pequeno, recognizing her impact on the play of Osasco today. What a sportsmanship act! Thaísa Menezes top-scored for Barueri with 23 hits.
