A 32-year-old middle blocker Adenízia surprised Brazilian fans by announcing the retirement from the national team on her social media profiles.
”The great day has come, for which I thought it was far. Everyone knows how much love I feel while playing volleyball, representing my country, so it hurts to make this decision, but that day arrives for every athlete. For some, I was no one, for many I was someone. I swear I tried to bring joy and love to all. I’ll keep dreaming and working hard. The future belongs to God, but at that moment I need to take care of my future husband and my family. Volleyball is my passion and my life and who knows if this is just goodbye and not farewell! Everything will happen by His will!” a current member of an Italian side Savino Del Bene Scandicci, who was summoned to compete for Brazil since 2009, posted.
Some media in her country speculate that a 2012 London Olympic, five-time FIVB World Grand Prix and five-time South American Championship winner might return to Brazil national team for the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.
