Although they were decimated with injuries, Sesc Flamengo beat Brasília at home in Round 1 of the 2020/21 Superliga Banco do Brasil regular season for women and made a debut in the competition as a newly created project: 3-1 (14-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-10).
The Rio de Janeiro side remained without two starters prior to the game and at the very beginning of it. Lorenne Teixeira got injured during warm-up, while Drussyla Costa experienced the same fate in the first set. Two more Sesc Flamengo players have been sidelined since the preparational period – both liberos – Natália Araújo ‘Natinha’ and Colombian Camila Gómez.
Led on the court by Dominican Brayelin Martínez (11 points) and Fernanda Garay ‘Fê Garay’ (6 blocks), Dentil/Praia Clube swept São José dos Pinhais/AIEL.
Itambé/Minas (Thaísa Daher 13 points) collected three points from a duel againt São Caetano.
