In the final stretch of preparation for the World Championship 2022, the Brazil Men head coach Dal Zotto had problems defining the squad even though he already composed the final list of players for the event in Slovenia and Poland, which will start in eight days.

In training held this Wednesday, the 2016 Rio Olympics gold medalist Lucas Saatkamp ‘Lucão’ suffered a sprained right ankle. The middle blocker is now very doubtful for the World Champs. In his place, Dal Zotto re-summoned the 20-year-old Leonardo Andrade ‘Léo’, who was previously crossed out from a 14-player list. The Brazilian federation (CBV) stated that an X-ray will be done on Lucão to determine if there’s any fracture and to assess whether or not the 36-year-old player will be able to get back into the squad. Until then, Léo will be at the disposal for the friendly match against France.
