A former long-time member of the Brazil Women’s Volleyball National Team, Josefa Fabíola Souza, joined Grupa Azoty Chemik Police.
The Polish women’s club champions Chemik have signed a contract with Fabíola. She’s a veteran and a big name in Brazilian volleyball, playing the role of a setter.
The 39-year-old spent the last season in Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde, the club for which she competed in three terms and made some of the biggest successes in her career. On the São Paulo state-based side, Fabíola won the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship, while individually, she earned the Best Setter award in the 2011-12 Brazilian Superliga, 2012 South American Club, 2012–13 Brazilian Superliga, and 2014 FIVB Club World Championship wearing the Osasco jersey. Fabíola played outside Brazil from 2014 to 2018, with the episode in Russia’s Dinamo Krasnodar standing out on her résumé. She’s the former Brazil international, appearing in the ’Seleção’ squad in the years between 2003 and 2016. She won, among other medals, gold in the 2013 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix.
Chemik will be the 11th club in the pro career of the famous setter.
