New volleyball ’virus’ starts to spread: Water volleyball tournament held as Men’s World Champs promotion (VIDEO)

Ten days before the commencement of the 2022 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship in Ljubljana, the river in the Slovenian capital provided the setting for a magnificent Volleyball on Water event on Tuesday, August 16.

In Ljubljana, as part of the promotion of the 2022 Men’s World Championship, a water volleyball tournament was held with the participation of former Slovenia National Team indoor players and the current stars of the Slovenian beach volleyball, as well as international players who took part in exhibition matches. Players competed on a floating and slightly flooded court on the Ljubljanica river. Several thousand spectators from the embankment and bridges watched the action right in the middle of the river. As the sun went down, the court became especially beautiful thanks to the luminous LED lights marking the lines and contours of the playing field.

For the first time, such a show was organized before the 2019 CEV European Championship where Slovenia was one of the organizers of the tournament, just like it’s now co-hosting the World Champs together with Poland.

Actually, that was NOT a way to promote volleyball, but to undermine it. This stupid “water volleyball” is just another variant of the almost 20 variants invented to move people away from the real volleyball (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volleyball_variations). In a way, is is indeed a virus and volleyball hasn’t been feeling well lately.
