Canoas-vs-Sesc
Sesc prevailed in the balanced game against Canoas, who were pushed by their fans at the packed La Salle Rio Grande do Sul (2,000 spectators), in four sets and after making a turnaround from 0-1, partially 22-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-23.
The match ended in a controversial manner which was the consequence of the lack of video challenge system in Superliga. The referee did not see that the ball touched Sesc player João Rafael Ferreira after the spike of Canoas opposite Aboubacar Neto “Abouba” at 23-23 in the 4th set and awarded the point to the visiting side. Since Abouba continued to protest on the referee’s call, he was red-carded and another point, in this case, the match-point, went to Sesc.
Renan Buiatti topped Sesc with 19 points. Tiago Barth made 4 kill blocks. In Canoas, Abouba scored 15 points.
EMS Taubaté Funvic and Sesi-SP scored wins worth three points to line up behind Sesc in the standings.
