The episode no.1 of the all-Turkish clash in the semifinals of the 2021 Women’s Challenge Cup between THY İstanbul and Sistem9 Yeşilyurt İstanbul went in the favor of the latter: 3-2 (29-31, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 15-10).

An output that Romanian teenager Alexia-Ioana Căruțașu staged today is rarely seen on a high level such as in some of the European club competitions. The 17-year-old opposite hitter, who slipped out of the hands of VakıfBank (they hired her when she was 15 but kept her for only one season), chipped in 47 points! Căruțașu attacked as many as 89 times (!), having 45 % effectiveness. She included 5 blocks in her output, just as Zeynep Sude Demirel.

American Madison Kingdon Rishel scored 25 points on the losing side. Berin Yıldırım had 70 % reception (20 digs, 1 error, 25 % excellent), while Aslı Kalaç and Özge Nur Çetiner set up 4 blocks apiece. The rematch is scheduled for tomorrow.
