Legendary José Roberto Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’, who occupies posts of the head coach and financier of the club competing in Brazil’s Superliga, São Paulo FC/Barueri, expressed his doubts about the existence of the project at the end of the ongoing season.
A 3-time Olympic champion, on whose initiative Barueri got women’s volleyball club in 2016, is the main sponsor of the team at the moment. Zé Roberto paid all costs of the functioning of the club this season given that sponsor money didn’t come to the club box office at all.
“I can’t take it. I can’t do it. I can’t afford it again. I can’t do this to my family. I can work for free, but I can’t be playing the team. I don’t have the head for it anymore,” said the Brazil Women’s National Team head coach about the next season.
