Germany can slowly but surely make plans for the knockout stage of the 2021 CEV Women’s Volleyball European Championship after beating Bulgaria in, perhaps, the most contested match since the start of the tournament.
After prevailing in the Pool B thriller against Bulgaria, Germany is one step closer to playoffs at the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2021. The team commanded by Felix Koslowski fought hard against the pool host and its fiery fans in Plovdiv: 3-2 (25-23, 16-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-10). Both sides are still in the chart zone leading to the next stage but behind the pool leader Poland. As in the first two games, Louisa Lippmann was the most successful German attacker with 18 points. Jennifer Janiska had 83 % reception (24 digs, 54 % excellent). Gergana Dimitrova scored 19 points for Bulgaria.
The Netherlands proved too strong for Pool D host Romania in the third round in Cluj-Napoca. The team coached by Avital Selinger kept its invincibility but handed over a set for the first time in the tournament: 3-1 (25-12, 25-27, 25-17, 25-14). The ‘Oranje’ will play two more matches in the group stage but are one step away from the playoffs.
