Slovakia took its first victory in the fourth encounter in Pool C in Zadar (Croatia) at the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2021. The team commanded by Marco Fenoglio turned around the match against Switzerland from 0-1 to 3-1 (21-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-22) and is still in the game to advance to the Round of 16. Gaining the first three points in the tournament, Slovakia moved to fifth place in the charts. A decisive battle for advancing to the playoffs will be against Belarus in two days. Slovakia’s promotion will be guaranteed in case of any victory, and in certain circumstances, it can advance even after losing 2-3. Romana Krišková was the most efficient player on the winning side tonight with 19 points, while Jaroslava Pencová made four blocks.

Croatia is leading the standings of this pool with four confident victories, the last one coming against Hungary, although it lost the set for the first time in the tournament: 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21). However, the most important thing for Croatia is that it secured at least second place in the charts ahead of the eighth-finals. If it beats Italy on Wednesday, Croatia can even claim first place in the pool. Actually, these two teams are the only ones to secure a playoff ticket from Pool C, while the remaining four will contest for the other two tickets. Samanta Fabris top-scored Croatia against Hungary with 18 points, including 5 aces. Božana Butigan set up four blocks, while Laura Miloš had 78 % reception (23 digs, 39 % excellent).
