Turkey finished the group stage of the 2021 CEV Women’s Volleyball European Championship with a perfect record.
In its last match of the preliminary stage of the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2021, Turkey trampled over The Netherlands: 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20). It was quite a surprisingly easy win of the team coached by Giovanni Guidetti, especially given the fact it was a direct duel for the top spot in Pool D in Cluj-Napoca (Romania).
These two had some intense duels over the past few years, but today’s was far from it. Led by Eda Erdem Dündar (16 points), Tuğba Şenoğlu (four blocks), and Simge Şebnem Aköz (80 % reception, 15 digs, one error, 60 % excellent), Turkey prevailed over ‘Oranje’ and finished the preliminary stage with 5-0 (15 points) and by losing just one set. The Netherlands will go to the playoffs from second place, while Ukraine and Sweden also secured a spot in the next stage – it has yet to be resolved from which position will each advance there.
