The Netherlands has reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 CEV Women’s Volleyball European Championship.
Under the baton of Anne Buijs (28 points), The Netherlands downed Germany in the inaugural eighth-finals of the CEV Women’s EuroVolley 2021, played in Plovdiv (Bulgaria).
Thanks to the second place in Pool D, ’Oranje’ was supposed to have, on paper, a rather light rival – the third-placed side from Pool B. But, given it was Germany to which the Dutch team lost the last two mutual encounters, including the last VNL, it had to work hard to overcome the ladies coached by Felix Koslowski: 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23).
Aside from Buijs, Nika Daalderop was the only player in double digits on the scoresheet on the winning side (22 points). Louisa Lippmann tallied 22 for Germany, while Jennifer Janiska made 70 % reception (20 digs, 50 % excellent).
