EUROVOLLEY 2021 M: Defending champs barely survive against Turkey, Germany knock out Bulgaria

The reigning champions Serbia had a very difficult game against Turkey in the 1/8 finals of the men’s EuroVolley.

They were down 2-1 and had to take the last two sets to advance to the quarterfinals. Turkey gave a huge resistance and they were very close to knock out Serbia but in the end, they didn’t manage to make it.

Adis Lagumdzija (Turkey) was the top scorer of the game with 20 points, while Uros Kovacevic ended with 18 on the other side.

In the quarterfinals, they will face the Netherlands, a team that managed to beat Portugal 3-2.

Nimir Abdelaziz had a great scoring display with 37 points, while Alexandre Ferreira had 16 points on the other side.

The six-time European Champions Italy really had an easy task to beat Latvia. They defeated the Latvian boys 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-16).

Germany also managed to book the ticket for the quarterfinals beating Bulgaria 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22).

Moritz Karlitzek and Gyorgy Grozer led the German team to the next stage. Karlitzek ended the match with 19 points, while Grozer contributed with 17.

Germany – Bulgaria 3-1 (25-14, 18-25, 25-19, 25-22)

Serbia – Turkey 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12)

September 11:

Russia – Ukraine 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-22)

Poland – Finland 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14)

September 13:

Slovenia – Croatia, 4 p.m. CET

France – Czech Republic, 7 p.m.
