In the match that had the promotion to the group stage of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023 | Women at stake, Tenerife La Laguna beat Slovenia’s Calcit Kamnik in four sets at home. After prevailing 3-2 in the first leg of the 3rd qualifying round on the road, whatever the win in the rematch would give the Spainards a pass to the group stage of the highest European club competition; and it turned out that making a comeback from 0-2 to 3-2 in the first match was crucial as Calcit had no strength to jeopardize La Laguna’s advancement.

The winning side was led by the Swiss outside hitter, Julie Lengweiler, who scored 16 points. American Avalyn Niece made 4 blocks. The 16-year-old Maša Pucelj top-scored for Calcit with 14 points. Thus, La Laguna became the second and also the last club to earn a place in the CL group stage through qualifiers. The remaining two slots were taken earlier by Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda Beograd and Hungary’s Vasas Óbuda Budapest after they eliminated today’s rivals.
