In start to the CEV Champions League 2025, Berlin’s BR Volleys secured a 3-1 win (25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-21) against Slovenia’s ACH Volley Ljubljana in front of a spirited home crowd at the Max-Schmeling-Halle. Backed by 4,836 fans, the Berlin team, led by standout setter Johannes Tille, fought hard to break through Ljubljana’s resilient defense.
Both unbeaten in their national leagues, the teams battled fiercely, with momentum swinging back and forth. BR Volleys managed to take the first set, only to see Ljubljana rally in the second. Berlin regained control in a tight third set, ultimately sealing victory in the fourth. Jake Hanes led the match as the top scorer with 26 points. For ACH Volley, Iranian player Amir Golzadeh stood out with 23 points.
This win places BR Volleys second in Group A. Next week, they travel to Belgium to face Greenyard Maaseik as they continue their Champions League journey. ACH Volley will face their next challenge in Ljubljana against the Polish team Projekt Warszawa.
