After five years of fasting, Maccabi Tel Aviv lifted the trophy intended for the best Men’s volleyball team in Israel by prevailing in the playoff finals against Maccabi Hod Hasharon 3-1. They won a decisive Game 4 in straight sets 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

English receiver Mark Plotyczer led Maccabi Tel Aviv scorers with 16 points in Game 4 while Croatian Andjelko Ćuk and Brazilian Leonardo dos Santos added 11 each. In Maccabi Hod Hasharon, German receiver Kevin Foyer had 13 points.

“I missed this feeling of winning the championship so much. It wasn’t easy, most of the season we played in front of empty gymnasiums but today a great crowd arrived and that’s worth it. Congratulations to Avishai Triband, Hod Hasharon coach, who brought romance back to the volleyball,” Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Zohar Bar Netzer said.
