Mediterraneo-vs-Barcelona
Mediterráneo Castellón defeated fourth-ranked FC Barcelona by a 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21) in Round 17 to leave the relegation zone in the standings. Namely, Mediterráneo moved from the 11th to 10th place in the standings, taking advantage of UBE l’Illa Grau’s 3-0 defeat to CV Teruel (teams placed 11th and 12th at the end of the regular stage will be relegated to Division 2).
The Venezuelan Andy Rojas was unstoppable in Mediterráneo with 29 points, while Ángel Galindo delivered 19 points for Barcelona. Both sides were nearly flawless in reception (85% Mediterráneo, 81% Barcelona).
After they both scored wins worth three points, the gap between the first-placed Urbia Voley Palma and second-placed CV Teruel remained two points, while tight victory in the tie-break against Ushuaïa Ibiza Voley, left Unicaja Almería six points away from No.1.
