The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) published the new Rankings for men’s and women’s national teams, the first since it applied the new way of counting points in February.

The FIVB has published the new Senior World Ranking Lists for both men and women, valid from July 1. Recall that volleyball’s world governing body has established a different method of calculating points that are supposed to make the rankings more realistic and fairer. It started to apply on February 1.

There are no significant changes in either of the rankings which is normal given that coronavirus paused volleyball activities for nearly four months. The biggest difference compared to the previous list ist the improved position of Turkey in Women’s Ranking. They are now fifth, squeezing out the reigning European and world champions Serbia to the sixth position.

This is laughable 🙂 Serbian women’s team 6th in the world??? HA! Men’s team not in top 10? What are they using for these more realistic and fairer rankings? 🙂

It’s a joke. The World Champion, Gold in European Championship, the Silver in Olympics Serbian national team in women the last two years, is 6th. Some in Fivb have done > job.

This is more laughable 🙂 In 2017 turkey was the 12th country in old ranking list
behind the 11th argentina. Then the turks played eurovolley 2017 semifinal (took
bronze) and then vnl 2018 final, vnl 2019 semifinal, eurovolley 2019 final and won
the 2020 european olympic qualification tournament. After all of these, they were
still the 12th team behind the 11th argentina.:D:D:D

Of course the new rankings are more realistic and fairer,I think, but plz note they are not to tell which NT is stronger but to reflect potentials of countries by taking all their performances in a time span into account.

Well, serbia, world and european champ, but has no vnl / world cup medal so far,
why,if they are so mighty? Ok , we all know/guess why, but the ranking system don’t pay attention why and it shouldn’t for a healty evaluation of serbia’s potential.

I also accept serbia’s ideal line-up is presently the strongest NT,but this issue is something different.

Serbian women had poor results in 2019 vnl (5W-10L) which has cost them to drop the 6th place.

Turkish women had 11W-4L in 2019 vnl. And beat China in final round though later lost to them in semifinal, it’s still plus for them because you win more points defeating an opponent above you but lose less points when you are defeated.

VNL must be an event that helps new players gain experience so that they can later join their country’s first team. Serbia has always participated with its 2nd or 3rd team. The big tournaments are the Olympics Games, the World Championships and the continental championships. No one remembers who won the vnl. Ask a player to answer please. All for money fivb!!!

has serbia ever had a 3rd team?:D
serbia began all vnl and former grand prix tournaments with a-teams. they have 3 recent g. prix bronzes. In 2018 vnl, again they began with boskovic, mikailovic, veljkovic, popovic, rasic etc. went to finals in china but lost against turkey and usa and went home.In 2019 vnl again they began with top guns boskovic, mikailovic, veljkovic etc. in 1st week. actually their rivals, the turks again, came with their 2nd team ie. without veterans but with youngsters ozbay, karakurt, gunes, baladin etc. and swept serbs by 3-0 and this match had to disappoint terzic too much and he continued vnl with bench players and lost almost all remaining games. videos are everywhere in youtube, just watch them.

for better rankings, you need to compete in all tournaments, but unfortunately only great countries like china, usa with great human resources, great capacities can afford it.

or despite winning ‘big’ tournaments, you must be contented with your 6th position, because only the points you won do matter.

Serbia’s ability to be in the metals in all big competitions, the last three years, is the result of the good handling of the rest exactly after the end of the European Championships. The first matches of Serbia in vnl the last years have the same philosophy. I insist. I would prefer o metal in big tournaments from metal in every year vnl. Thw players haven’t enough time for rest.
