It took Italy National Team seven games to earn its first win in the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.
After six consecutive defeats, Italy achieved the first victory in the 2021 Women’s VNL. In the opening of the third week, ‘Azzurrine’ overtook South Korea in four sets after the Asians had put it in serious difficulty for two and a half sets. Sylvia Nwakalor top-scored Italy with 16 points. Alessia Mazzaro set up 5 blocks, Francesca Bosio served 4 aces, and Anastasia Guerra made 73.3 % digs (12/15).
The USA has returned to the top of the charts. Karch Kiraly’s ladies dominated Germany (3-0) and remained undefeated (one of the two teams with the perfect record). Andrea Drews and Kelsey Robinson shared the match top scorer ‘title’ with 17 points each. Justine Wong-Orantes had 75 % digs (14/16).
