The national team of the Netherlands opened its 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship campaign with a confident win over Egypt.
The Dutch players have made an excellent start to the World Championship 2022. ’Oranje’ beat Egypt 3-0 in Pool F in Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana. Only the second set saw the team commanded by Roberto Piazza have a hard time with the North Africans. As is often the case, it was Nimir Abdel-Aziz who played the main role for the Netherlands. The opposite hitter finished the match with 21 points.
It was all easy and simple for Turkey in Pool E’s encounter against China, also in Ljubljana. Nedim Özbey’s wards left no way out for the Asians that appeared not very concrete. The top scorer of the game was the opposite hitter on the winning side, Adis Lagumdžija (19 points). However, the output of his teammate Baturalp Burak Güngör has to be stressed. The outside hitter had a super-performance in the first set: 7/7 in attack! He finished the match with 17 points, including 5 aces. Zhang Jingyin was the only player in double digits in scoring for China: 10 points.
