The FIVB Board of Administration has approved several key amendments to the FIVB Sports Regulations, with a notable focus on altering the rules for the Federation of Origin and the operations of FIVB Licensed Agents. These changes are set to come into effect from 21 September.

In a significant shift, the amendments toughen the residency requirements for athletes wishing to switch their Federation of Origin. The requisite residency period is now extended to three years from the previous two. Additionally, a newly instituted rule clarifies that such athletes must not have formerly represented their original Federation’s senior national team.

In an effort to achieve fairness and proportional representation, the fee structure for changing the Federation of Origin has been redesigned. The erstwhile fixed fee is replaced by a scaled fee system that accounts for the player’s original Federation’s investment in their development and the disparity in categories between the National Federations.

Significant changes have also been made to the regulations governing FIVB Licensed Agents, marking the first substantial modifications since 2014. These alterations are aimed at averting potential conflicts of interest. They explicitly define such conflicts, particularly addressing the concern of dual representation.

The updated rules lay down specific conditions for the licensing of national agents. Especially in instances where National Federations have their own regulations.
