Italian volleyball team Sir Sicoma Perugia is poised to defend their world title at the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship. After securing a decisive victory over Türkiye’s Halkbank Spor Kulübü in the semifinals, Perugia is now gearing up for a challenging final against Brazil’s Itambé Minas.
In their semifinal match in Bengaluru, India, Perugia showcased their dominance, winning three straight sets against Halkbank (25-14, 25-16, 31-29). Polish player Kamil Semeniuk led the scoring with 15 points, while Cuban player Jesus Herrera contributed significantly with 13 points.
On the other side, Halkbank’s Nimir Abdel-Aziz and Mert Mátic put up a strong fight, scoring nine and eight points, respectively. However, their efforts weren’t enough to overcome Perugia’s stellar performance.
Meanwhile, Minas clinched their spot in the final after a hard-fought victory over Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds, winning 3-2 in a thrilling five-set match. Key players for Minas was Cuban Michael Sanchez, who scored 27 pointsand was the match top scorer, and Dmitriy Muserskiy, with 23 points led the scoring of Suntory Sunbirds.
