Slovenia’s men’s team has officially secured a spot in the Paris Olympics by defeating Argentina 3-0 in the Volleyball Nations League tournament held in Stožice, Ljubljana.
Slovenia, fielding their standard lineup, showcased impressive play from the start, taking an early lead and maintaining it throughout the match. Despite a strong effort from Argentina, who are also vying for an Olympic berth, Slovenia’s focused and dynamic play, especially in serving and attacking, proved unstoppable.
Captain Tine Urnaut and his teammates built a solid advantage in each set, with key plays from Jan Kozamernik and Alen Pajenk, securing their win with scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 29-27. This triumph not only confirmed their Olympic qualification but also boosted Slovenia to fourth place in the FIVB rankings, marking their highest position ever.
The victory was celebrated by a packed crowd in Stožice, who witnessed their team excel and secure their Olympic dream. With this win, Slovenia also leapfrogged Italy in the Nations League standings.
