China emerged as the inaugural champions of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship. Held at Lima’s Coliseo Eduardo Dibos, China secured the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Japan, capping off a flawless tournament run with seven wins and only one set dropped.
Captain Yang Shuming led China to glory, delivering a standout performance in the final with a 24-point effort, including three aces and a crucial kill block. Her dominance was evident as China outshone Japan in key areas such as attack, serving, and blocking—amassing nine blocks compared to Japan’s single block. Yang’s teammates, Huang Yuexin and Sun Hongyun, also contributed significantly, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively. Japan’s Hikari Kudo was the leading scorer for her team with 21 points.
In the bronze medal match, Italy overcome Chinese Taipei 3-1. The Italian squad’s exceptional blocking, with 13 kill blocks compared to Chinese Taipei’s four, proved decisive. Captain Ludovica Tosini led Italy’s scoring with 23 points, while Rebecca Aimaretti anchored the blocking effort with four stuffs. Chinese Taipei’s Chen Yi and captain Chen Pin-Yu both tallied 15 points in their team’s effort.
