After three heartbreaking five-set defeats, the Germany finally delivered the win they’d been chasing—taking down Olympic gold medalists France in a dramatic 3-1 battle (23-25, 25-19, 29-27, 29-27).
Filip John led the charge with 21 points, backed by solid performances from Erik Röhrs (16) and Simon Torwie (15).
Italy Outclasses Argentina in Epic Set Showdown
Italy showed their championship pedigree by beating Argentina 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 37-35, 25-21). A 37-35 third set stood out as the turning point.
Outside hitters Luca Porro (21 points) and Mattia Bottolo (18 points) carried the offense, helping Italy rise to fourth place with eight points.
Canada Sweeps Bulgaria to End on a High
The home team gave fans a perfect farewell, sweeping Bulgaria 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-19). Brodie Hofer was unstoppable with 21 points, while Ryan Sclater added 12.
Canada now holds sixth place, while Bulgaria remains mid-table.
