What a match! Team USA pulled off a hard-fought 3-2 win over Serbia in front of more than 6,000 fired-up fans at Beograd Arena.
The Americans came out strong, taking the first two sets with smart plays and powerful attacks. Madisen Skinner was on fire, dropping 32 points, while Sarah Franklin added 20 and Amber Igiede chipped in 10. With their captain Dana Rettke back in the lineup, Team USA looked confident and composed.
But Serbia wasn’t going down without a fight. Even without stars Tijana Bošković and Aleksandra Uzelac, the home team rallied in front of their loud, loyal crowd. Vanja Ivanović (20 points), Maja Aleksić (18), and Katarina Dangubić (16) stepped up big time, helping Serbia even the match and force a deciding fifth set.
The final stretch was intense. USA jumped out to a quick lead, but Serbia kept pushing, closing the gap and making it a nail-biter. In the end, the Americans held their nerve, stringing together the last few points to seal the win 15-11.
