Thailand’s women’s national team secured their spot in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) after a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Canada in Arlington. Though defeated, the Thais won two critical sets, earning the one point they needed to avoid relegation and finish 17th overall.
The reigning Asian champions started strong with a dominant first set, stumbled in the second and third, but rallied in the fourth to seal their VNL survival. Captain Ajcharaporn Kongyot led with 27 points, backed by Pimpichaya Kokram’s 23.
“We did this for our team and fans,” said Kongyot. “Despite all the setbacks, we stayed strong.”
Canada’s Hilary Johnson shined with 25 points, helping her team end their campaign on a high note in 16th place.
Korea, tied in wins and points with Thailand, drop out of the league after seven straight appearances, to be replaced in 2026 by the highest-ranked non-participating team.
China defeated the USA 3-2 in a thrilling five-set match to close out the preliminary phase of the 2025 Volleyball Nations League.
