Despite the home support at the packed Huamark Indoor Stadium, Thailand couldn’t break Japan’s rhythm as the visitors sealed a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-23, 25-23). The result marked Japan’s tenth consecutive triumph over their regional rivals.

Captain Mayu Ishikawa topped the scores with 14 points, backed by solid displays from Haruyo Shimamura (12 pts) and Yukiko Wada (11 pts). Thailand’s Chatchu-On Moksri (12 pts) and Pimpichaya Kokram (11 pts) shone in attack but couldn’t turn the tide.

The victory sets up a quarterfinal clash for Japan against the Netherlands, who earlier shocked Serbia in a five-set battle.
