Third luck was a charm for the Spanish National Team as they progressed to the gold medal match after being stopped in semis twice in past few editions of the FIVB World League. Spain cruised past Germany, the only team that inflicted them a defeat in the Preliminary Round, with a straight set win, partially 26-24, 25-18, 25-22, thanks to 22 points from the national champions C’an Ventura Palma opposite Andrés Villena. Simon Hirsch, receiver of Italian club Gi Group Monza, topped the Germans with 16 points.

The World League debutants Estonia smashed Final Four hosts Mexico 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-20). Robert Täht, a receiver of the Polish Cuprum Lubin, highlighted the team from the Baltic region with 17 points.

The winners of tomorrow’s Group 3 final between Spain and Estonia (01:30 CET) will advance to Group 2 for the next year’s edition of the FIVB World League.
