In the late match, Turkey crushed Italy with 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) and Meryem Boz finished the match with 16 points followed by Eda Erdem Dundar who scored 14 points. Anastasia Guerra was the best scorer in Italy with 13 points.
Coach of Turkey, Italian Giovanni Guidetti said after the match: “I am happy about how the team played. I enjoyed the atmosphere on the court. I liked the spirit of the players and the way they fought for every ball. We are really in the beginning with our training and starting with a victory is always a good feeling.”
His colleague, coach of Itlay Davide Mazzanti: “Kudos to Turkey for the game. We gave away too much, especially in the second set. We are working on attacking. Sometimes we lose our timing and we are working on that. Today we were not able to do well in defense and blocking. Turkey had the chance to profit from our weakness today.“
