The stage is set for the Coupe de France men’s final! On March 29, Montpellier and Tourcoing will battle for the coveted title in Chartres after winning their respective semifinal clashes.
Montpellier Cruises Past Chaumont
Montpellier dominated Chaumont in a straight-set victory (25-15, 25-19, 25-18), securing to play in Coupe de France Grand Final. MVP Tomas Lopez Pascual led the charge with 13 points (69% attack, 1 ace, 1 block), while Dimitar Dimitrov (12 points) and Ezequiel Palacios (11 points) also contributed.
Montpellier, eight-time French champions, will now seek their first-ever Coupe de France title, having fallen short in 2008, 2010, and 2023.
Tourcoing Survives Thriller Against Toulouse
Tourcoing faced a much tougher test against Toulouse, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory (25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-27, 15-12) after 2 hours and 19 minutes of intense action.
Key to Tourcoing’s success was a dominant blocking game, racking up 21 blocks compared to Toulouse’s 4! MVP Michael Parkinson led the defense with 8 blocks and 7 attack points (64%), while Pablo Koukartsev shined offensively with 26 points (52% attack, 3 blocks, 1 ace).
Toulouse’s Nathan Feral was the top scorer of the match with 28 points (52% attack, 5 aces), but despite his efforts, Tourcoing proved too resilient in the decisive tie-break (15-12).
Tourcoing, who won their first and only Coupe de France in 2018 after six previous final defeats, now has a chance to lift the trophy again.
