Kozuch recently attended a press conference in Hamburg where she did also discuss about the prelims of the 2013 CEV Volleyball European League – Women as Germany is set to play there 2011 European champions Serbia, as well as Israel and another rookie of the competition, Belgium. Kozuch – a real globe trotter who in the past years played in Russia, Poland and Italy – will be returning to her hometown and can’t wait for playing before her home fans at CU Arena.

“I am absolutely thrilled that a major international competition finally takes place here in Hamburg” she said. “I have a very special connection with this city and it always feels great to walk down the streets here and scent the air of Hamburg” Kozuch stressed while addressing some journalists to discuss her comeback to the city where she was born.

The match starring Germany and Serbia scheduled for June 30 will be a remake of the gold medal match these teams played two years ago at the European Championship in Beograd and where Germany eventually did lose at the tie-break. The European League is also a perfect lead-up to the European Championship coming up this September and where Germany will try to seize gold for the first time since the former GDR did so in 1987. “We have a very good atmosphere in our team, in and off the court, and this is a very good pre-condition for a memorable summer” the German captain said in Hamburg.

Before its home round in Hamburg, Germany will first play away in Belgium (June 14-16) and Serbia (June 21-23) before traveling to Israel for the last preliminary round (July 4-6).

The host country – Bulgaria – plus the winners of the two preliminary Pools and the second-ranked with the best score will make it to the final four scheduled for July 13-14 in Varna.
