Gearing up for the first semi-final clash in the German championship with the rising stars of TV Ingersoll BÜHL this Sunday, BERLIN Recycling Volleys do not only strive for a perfect start in the round of the last four teams held in a best-of-five series, but also want to cause a major sensation some hours before the match will be on, as they present the first mobile Urban Volley Court by staging the first “Urban Volley Championship” in front of their arena.

As another essential part of the marketing campaign “Berlin plays Volleyball”, featuring the club’s image film and an online community in which fans and Volleyball enthusiasts can present themselves with videos and pictures, launched at the beginning of this season in order to raise the popularity of Volleyball in town, this mobile sports complex will be officially presented on Sunday afternoon. And with its 20 meters of length and 7.5 meters of height the Urban Volley Court will be surely an eye-catcher on the open space in front of Max-Schmeling-Halle.

With rules adapted to this new form of street Volleyball, the world’s first “Urban Volley Championship” will be held. Fighting for a newly created challenge cup trophy, six teams will show that digging and spiking is not bound to halls and sand and can also be loads of fun on the streets – true to the campaign’s motto “keep the ball flying”. Installing the Urban Volley Court, a new sports complex shall be both brought to the citizens of Berlin and used to enrich the leisure facilities of the German metropolis.

With the end of the competition, approximately two hours before the start of the semi-final match between the sides of BERLIN and BÜHL, visitors and spectators will have the opportunity to try out the new court – accompanied by a music programme by the club’s radio partner STAR FM.
