In a high-stakes Bundesliga showdown at the Palmberg Arena, Dresden’s DSC Volley claimed victory over SSC Palmberg Schwerin with a thrilling 3-2 comeback after trailing 1-2. The Dresden team, coached by Alexander Waibl, extended their undefeated Bundesliga streak before an enthusiastic crowd of 2,023.
Coach Waibl praised his players for their resilience: “I’m extremely proud. The team showed incredible spirit, especially Marta Levinska, who delivered outstanding performance on the diagonal.” Levinska’s 28 points secured her the MVP gold medal, while Jaelyn Rose Keene from Schwerin received silver. Other DSC top scorers included Victoria Demidova with 18 points, Nathalie Lemmens with 11, and Lorena Lorber Fijok with 10.
The game saw a fierce back-and-forth as both teams struggled to maintain control. Schwerin took the first set 25-18 after outpacing Dresden in blocks and efficient attacks. But Dresden responded in the second set, leveraging aggressive serves and stabilizing their reception to win 25-19.
Schwerin regained the upper hand in the third set with a 25-14 win, capitalizing on DSC’s defensive struggles. However, Dresden, fueled by steadfast teamwork and impressive plays from Levinska and Demidova, fought back to level the match by claiming the fourth set 25-20.
The tiebreaker was a test of nerves, with Dresden opening strongly to lead 4-1. Despite Schwerin closing in, powerful spikes from Levinska and a timely ace from Lemmens sealed the match 15-12, crowning Dresden with a hard-fought victory.
