The Berlin Recycling Volleys are the 2025 DVV Cup champions! In a nail-biting showdown in front of 10,267 fans, Berlin edged past SWD powervolleys Düren with a hard-fought 3-2 victory (25:23, 22:25, 25:27, 25:19, 15:5). This marks their third consecutive cup title and eighth in club history.
The match was a true battle, lasting over two hours with momentum swings on both sides. Düren took a 2-1 set lead and looked poised for an upset, but Berlin fought back. The turning point came in the fourth set when Jake Hanes unleashed four aces in a row, forcing a decisive tiebreak. From there, the BR Volleys dominated, closing out the match with a commanding 15-5 final set. Hanes, who racked up 26 points, was named “Player of the Match.”
While Berlin celebrated their historic hat-trick, disappointment ran deep for Düren. “We played an incredible match, but lost our grip in the end,” admitted Robin Baghdady. It was Düren’s third cup final loss to Berlin after defeats in 2020 and 2023.
With this victory, the BR Volleys further cement their dominance in German volleyball.
