Exactly 2,144 spectators at the Häfler hall saw two good and two less good sets of their team and in the fifth set happiness were not on their side.
In the deciding set, Friedrichshafen made pressure with the serve and then grabbed again and again in the block for the lead (3-1, 6-3). Düren took the time-out and disturbed the rhythm of Friedrichshafen (7-7).
Friedrichshafen led with 11-10 with much effort, but could not keep it. Their coach Stelian Moculescu took two time-outs in a row (11-12, 11-13), but Düren kept their nerves. Although Friedrichshafen defended the first match point, they had no chance at the second – Düren’s block did its job for 13-15.
Düren’s opposite Marvin Prolingheuer was unstopable with 28 points!
