It is eleven o’clock in the evening: Nikola Rosic is sitting in the lobby of the hotel and has put on his headphones. He calls on Skype his wife Olga, who has stayed together with their son and his mother in Friedrichshafen. “Of course I miss my family and would love to be with them” he says. “But I have a job and to focus on that” he adds as his side is in Belgium to play Knack ROESELARE for the prelims of the CEV Volleyball Champions League.

His son Vuk was born this past October 26. “That was amazing” says Rosic and his smile gets brighter. “I will never forget the moment as I saw him for the first time”. His daily routine has not changed because of this.  “I train twice a day and I need my rest in between” says the 192 cm tall libero. “Still I am surely very happy when I get back home. Having a baby is something incomparable”.

Since five days Rosic is traveling with his team across Europe. On Wednesday the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League still continues. After the 3:2 away win against Austria’s Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK, VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN lost 0:3 to last year’s winners of Zenit KAZAN at home.

The next stop of this European campaign is the clash with Knack ROESELARE.

They clearly edged Hypo Tirol but they also lost in straight sets to Zenit KAZAN” says Rosic. It is important for him to know strengths and weaknesses of his team. “We have prepared very well for this game and every player knows what he has to do. If we play our best and as a team, we have good chances to beat ROESELARE”.

Rosic has found the right balance between work and family: “Home is home and work is work, you can’t mix the two”. Similarly, he does not want to mix the domestic arena with the campaign in Europe’s most elitist competition. “The match with ROESELARE is our priority at the moment and after that we will be thinking about what’s next”. For the time being, he needs to share a big hug with his young and lovely family.
