Scoring 26 points Robert Kromm again was the excelling player of the match. In the following interview the well-known member of the German national team talks about his club’s chances of advancing to the Playoffs, the course of this year’s campaign and his return to Berlin.

When playing BUDVA your team eventually had the happy end on its side. How close are you already to make your dream of advancing to the Playoffs come true?

Outdoing BUDVA was a tough job, but we’re happy to have claimed this win under overall difficult conditions. Of course, the victory was another step towards the round of last twelve, but we’re still lacking at least one win – and even when claiming this, we can’t be sure to make it to the Playoffs”.

Currently ranked second in Pool B, the prospects could be worse. How are your chances in the up-coming two more matches?

“We have good chances but still have a tough match to play with CESKE BUDEJOVICE. In our home match against NOVOSIBIRSK we’re the clear-cut outsider. But with our awesome crowd supporting us, we might be able to spring a surprise”.

In Bundesliga, you’re topping the standings being unbeaten. What makes you this strong this year?

“The team hasn’t changed much and already plays well together. But I do expect FRIEDRICHSHAFEN and UNTERHACHING to enhance their play. Facing the other teams in the national competition, we’re always the favorite due to our well-balanced team roster. Except for the tough cup defeat against UNTERHACHING it has been a successful season start for us”.

After seven years of playing abroad you returned to Germany this year. How does it feel to be back home?

“It’s great to be back, close to my family. Berlin is – except for its traffic – a terrific city offering a big variety of leisure time activities. For me and my family the decision to go back to Berlin wasn’t difficult at all – and the team helped me integrate that fast. Having kept much of the roster, the atmosphere within the group is great. And for me, personally, the enthusiasm for volleyball in Berlin and the support by the spectators is simply fantastic”.
