The French Samuel Tuia committed himself to Berlin Recycling Volleys for the season 2018/19 season. A 31-year-old outside hitter, ex-„Les Bleus“ player, came to the defending Bundesliga champions after a 4-year experience in Turkey during which he defended the colors of three clubs (Galatasaray HDI Sigorta, Beşiktaş, and İstanbul BBSK). Tuia signed a two-year contract with BR Volleys. The club fro the German capital agreed to continue the collaboration with a 26-year-old middle blocker Georg Klein.
Helios Grizzlys Giesen, newcomers to Bundesliga, hired several newcomers for their top-flight debut: a prospect Slovenian libero Urban Toman (Triglav Kranj, Slovenia), Slovak setter Filip Palgut (member of Slovakia NT since 2013, collecting 56 caps, VK Jihostroj České Budějovice, the Czech Republic), and Czech opposite Michal Kriško (VK Karlovarsko, Czech Republic). The club extended with outside hitters Marius Appel and Maximilian Ströbl, middle blocker Robert Schramm, libero André Illmer, and opposite (also a captain) Hauke Wagner.
An 18-year-old setter Jan Röling complemented the squad of TV Rottenburg. He spent the last three years with Volleyball-Internat Frankfurt and competed in Division 2. Jannis Hopt and he will replace the last season’s setter’s duo Federico Cipollone and Philipp Jankowski who decided to leave Rottenburg.
Volleyball Bisons Bühl contracted a 22-year-old Argentinean player Bruno Lima. The opposite played last season with Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 Haute-Marne (France) and moved back to his home country for the second half of the season to wear the jersey of Obras de San Juan. Lima went through almost every youth category of Argentina national team, collecting over 100 caps for the senior team so far. He took part in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Lima was engaged with Argentina NT in the Intercontinental stage of the 2018 Nations League.
Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching are close to completing the roster for the 2018/19. A 20-year-old Russian opposite Kirill Klets, who matured in Lokomotiv Novosibirsk before moving to Montana (Bulgaria), came to the Austrian-German club. One of the Czech Extraliga highlights last season, a 22-year-old Polish outside hitter Paweł Halaba (49% reception in VK Jihostroj České Budějovice) also signed with AlpenVolleys. Earlier, they hired American middle blocker Matthew Pollock (won 2017/18 Italian Division 2 cup with Ceramica Scarabeo Gcf Roma, Best Middle Blocker of the 2017/18 Italian Division 2) and Austria national team libero Florian Ringseis (won 2017/18 double crown with Finnish VaLePa Sastamala).
SVG Lüneburg extended the deals with three players. The middle blocker Michel Schlien will wear the jersey of the club for the eighth season. The U.S. outside hitter Cody Kessel (third season) and prospect Dutch setter Gijs van Solkema (second season) followed his footsteps. In addition, Lüneburg hired Canadian setter Adam Schriemer, who will play his first professional season as he came from Trinity Western University Spartans, and his compatriot Nicholas Del Bianco (outside hitter – Lausanne UC, Switzerland).
WWK Volleys Herrsching reunited Tille brothers. Germany national team libero Ferdinand Tille will stay in the club for one more year while his brother Johannes came from Bergische Volleys who got relegated to Division 2. A 21-year-old setter signed a two-year contract. Herrsching also hired United Volleys Rhein-Main middle blocker Lukas Bauer for a one-year deal. Along with playing Bundesliga, he will try to complete his studies in media and communication management.
