Despite earning the promotion to the Greek top division for the first time in the club history, P.A.O.K. officials decided to part ways with the head coach that brought this success to the Thessaloniki team, Dimitris Solkidis. He will not be replaced with a reputable Serbian expert Zoran Gajić, as it was speculated two months ago, but with Slovak Michal Mašek, who has just won the Polish league title with ŁKS Commercecon Łódź.
P.A.O.K. made a great job by renewing the deal with a 28-year-old outside hitter Evangelia “Eva“ Chantava, one-time Greek Championship MVP. The outside hitter Maria Klepkou and middle blocker Eleni Konstantinidou followed Chantava’s footsteps.
As for reinforcements, P.A.O.K. agreed to terms with a 26-year-old middle blocker Nikoletta Karafoulidou. Last season, she competed for AS Makedones. The libero Maria Myridou and middle blocker Ioanna Polynopoulou also signed with the Thessaloniki side. Both came from Division 2 teams – APS Admiral Votsi and Nea Genea Asvestochoriou, respectively.
