Is Gianlorenzo Blengini going to stay at the helm of the Italian men's volleyball national team? The answer is YES.

Blengini

This is the conclusion of the meeting between the Italian Volleyball Federation and current head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini:

The idea of the Federation is to respect the contract until 2020 with an extension option.“

Blengini has started working on his plan for 2019 and will have two goals: to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2019 and the second one is to include several young Italians in the next FIVB Nations Volleyball League.

There were some talks about foreign rule in the Italian Serie A1. Of course, they discussed decreasing the number of foreigners…

Recall that Italy didn’t manage to reach the semifinals of the World Championship 2018…

They want to decrease the number of foreign players? Where are they going to find good italians? In A2?

That would be the smart decision for better for the national volleyball team. Yes, it will bring down the quality of the national league but in long-term Italy would benefit. Young players don’t have a chance to play and become better when there are too many international players. Look at Russian league. I think 2 foreign players per team is enough considering players from EU countries are not considered foreign players.
