A 33-year-old Serbian middle blocker Dragan Stanković has officially joined Piacenza for the 2019/20 season after winning the CEV Champions League and Italian Championship last season. He did it with Cucine Lube Civitanova whose jersey he has worn for nine straight seasons and earned the privilege to become a captain of the SuperLega powerhouse.
Former Serbia national team member Stanković will bring huge experience to Piacenza reflected in numerous titles that he has won so far: 4 in the Italian Championship, 2 in the Italian Super Cup, and one apiece in the CEV Champions League, Italian Cup, CEV Challenge Cup, Montenegro Championship and Serbian Championship. With his national team, Stanković lifted the trophy in 2011 CEV European Championship and 2016 FIVB World League.
Before Stanković, Piacenza hired Austrian outside hitter Alexander Berger and opposite hitter Gabriele Nelli and renewed with Alessandro Fei, Alessandro Tondo and Russian Igor Yudin.
