At the end of the match against Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio last night, which his team lost by a 3-1, Zanetti Bergamo head coach Marcello Abbondanza informed the club management that he will leave his post. The team is now entrusted to his assistant Daniele Turino, who has been in Bergamo since 2011, first as a youth sector coach and then in the staff of the senior squad.

According to Italian media, Abbondanza left Bergamo for personal reasons because he could no longer withhold the fact that he is far away from his wife who remained in Turkey and didn’t come to Italy at all in the previous period.

Abbondanza joined Bergamo this summer, coming from the Polish side Grupa Azoty Chemik Police in which he experienced a truly unpleasant situation with one of their players. He is one of the most respected Italian experts at the moment, having won among other trophies, three national championship titles (in Poland with Grupa Azoty Chemik Police, in Turkey with Fenerbahçe Opet and in Azerbaijan with Rabitə Bakı) and one title in the CEV Cup with Italian Volley Pesaro.

After seven rounds of the 2019/20 Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile regular season, Bergamo have only two wins and five defeats which placed them at the 10th position of 14 teams in the charts.
